THE STORY BEHIND DEARLY FOUND

and the town that built it

Some places make you feel like you don’t need to have everything figured out.

Where ambition, doubt, life goals and uncertainty can exist at the same time. Where individuality is welcome. Where quiet people are seen and quirky ones still accepted and loved.

Where you can simply be, or reinvent yourself entirely, and still belong.

That feeling is where Dearly Found Studios began.

We’ve always been drawn to the things that make places feel special:

Third-wave coffee rituals, slow mornings, meaningful objects, moody weather, handwritten notes, worn-in sweaters, seasonal drinks, bakery conversations, deeply rooted [and sometimes complicated] friendships, found family...

Because some stories don’t begin with characters.

They begin with a feeling.

The feeling of your favorite mug.

A café you wish existed.

A song that instantly transports you back to a version of yourself you thought you'd lost.

A familiar scent.

A hug from someone you love.

A place where you’d stay longer than planned...

That place, for us, became Cedar Hollow, Oregon — home of Carter Roastery.

An imagined place built from all the things we wish were real.

Dearly Found Studios creates story-inspired apparel, keepsakes and little artifacts from fictional places that somehow feel familiar.

This is for people who collect atmosphere.

For people who care about interiors, cozy rituals, books, playlists, coffee, homemade food, textures, beautiful design and places that feel like home before they even exist.

For people who feel deeply.

For people who believe that stories can become strangely real sometimes — that fictional places can resonate in ways you never imagined...

Welcome to Cedar Hollow.

P.S. If this sounds like somewhere you’d want to visit, we’d love to invite you deeper!

SOME QUOTES FROM PEOPLE WHO BECAME FAMILY

"I’ve lived here long enough to know that if the lights are still on after 9 p.m. on a weekday, someone inside desperately needs caffeine. Or a good cry. Or both."

Ray — janitor [unofficially]

"Somehow I always come in for just a quick bite and leave three hours later with a new life plan and two borrowed books."

Tallulah — local college student

"There are places designed to impress, but this one just quietly lets you stay."

Erik — bread runs & photographs

"I swear, Maggs puts something illegal in those cardamom buns. They're literally designed to get people hooked, give them diabetes, or leave you at least seven extra pounds since last October."

Noah — best man & karaoke nights

"The building’s been part of my family for almost a century. Seeing what Josh and Maggie did with this place still gets me."

David — proud father & good advice

"Eeekshqueek—"

Captain — lobster & puppy supply

— "Sometimes they change the playlist depending on which regulars walk in that day, and Maggie remembers the tiniest things I said months ago. I mean.. that's a bit unsettling, no?"

Mateo — prep days & kitchen support

"Josh calls it a coffee roastery and café shop. I call it second home."

Sara — logistics & strong opinions

— "Bailey really loves anyone. Especially if they smell like cookies or bring some beef jerky for her."

Travis — front desk & oldest son
